“We Need Structural Change so Californians Can Afford to Live Here”: Tom Steyer Casts Vote
SAN FRANCISCO – In case you missed it, today, Tom Steyer cast his ballot in California’s 2026 Primary. With only one week left, the race for governor has come down to three candidates vying for two spots: Steve Hilton, the extreme Trump-endorsed Republican; Xavier Becerra, a corporate Democrat; and Tom Steyer, the only viable progressive candidate left in the race. Despite sustained attacks from corporate special interests — the most money super PACs have ever spent against a single candidate — Steyer continues to surge.

After casting his ballot, Steyer gave remarks reflecting on what’s at stake this election. Steyer reiterated Californians have a chance to choose change and end the corporations’ stranglehold over working families.
There are only three people in this race, really.
One of them is a hard right Republican endorsed by Donald Trump — Steve Hilton.
One of them is a corporate Democrat — Xavier Becerra — who's been taking money from Chevron and Uber and Meta, and being backed by the corporations in this state who don't want anything to change, who are driving up costs.
And one person who's running to fight for working people and to make change in this state, and that's me.
There's one person who these corporations have spent $50 million to beat–the record in any California race — and that's me.
That's because I am fighting for working people.
I have made it clear we need structural change to drive down costs, so that Californians can afford to live in California.
That's what this race really is about.
And I'm the only person who's talking about how to do it, and who's intent on doing it.
The corporations know it, and working people know it.
Steyer touted his long list of endorsements which includes grassroots organizers, organizations representing working people, and progressive leaders up and down the state See the full list of endorsers here.
