Tom Steyer to CEOs: “If You Haven’t Stood Up, Shut Up”

SAN FRANCISCO — Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer slammed billionaire businessmen Tim Cook (Apple CEO), Eric Yuan (Zoom CEO), and Andy Jassy (Amazon CEO) for cozying up to the White House while Donald Trump tramples the rule of law, democracy, and our economy. 

In a video, Steyer directly took aim at the CEOs:

“Hey American CEOs,

You have a lot of yachts, you have a lot of money.

People pay a lot of attention to you, but if you haven’t said a word about Donald Trump, if you haven’t said a word about Minnesota, if you haven’t said a word about the rule of law, if you’re hanging out at the White House, don’t come to us and talk about anything but money.

Don’t pretend you care about anything else.

For the people of Minnesota who are in the streets standing up for democracy in America, we want to hear what you have to say.

American CEOs, if you haven’t stood up, shut up.”
