(San Francisco, CA, June 29) –– Climate activist, NextGen America founder, and former presidential candidate Tom Steyer endorsed Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) for Senate in Massachusetts today.

Tom Steyer

“For the last several decades, Ed’s been leading the fight in Congress to tackle our climate crisis while too many politicians on both sides of the aisle have sat on the sidelines. His bold leadership is exactly what we need at every level of government, and I am proud to endorse his candidacy. We need Ed Markey in the Senate to pass the bold solutions necessary to combat climate injustice and create clean energy jobs that power an equitable, green, and sustainable economy.”

“Tom Steyer has been one of the most influential voices in calling attention to the greatest existential threat our planet is facing and a true environmental champion. He has organized Americans around the country to help position climate action and clean energy as top voting issues in this election, and his support of this movement is invaluable. I am grateful to Tom Steyer for his endorsement in this race, and together we are transforming the Green New Deal from a resolution into a revolution.”

U.S. Senator Ed Markey is a national leader on climate, clean energy, and the environment. He serves as Chair of the Senate Climate Task Force, and on the Environment and Public Works Committee, the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and the Foreign Relations Committee. These key leadership positions, earned over 40 years of legislative work, establish him as a powerful leader both nationally and internationally on climate and energy policy. His record of legislative achievements is unparalleled, most recently with his co-authoring the Green New Deal resolution with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Continuing his work to uplift and support climate candidates and mobilize climate voters, Steyer has launched his political program with a slate of climate endorsements that he will continue to announce over the coming weeks.
