Tom Steyer Announces Powerhouse Senior Advisors to Guide Latino Political and Communications Strategy
Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Nathaly Maurice, Adrian Saenz, Colin Rogero, Ariana Andrade, and Keylin Rivera join Steyer’s team to strengthen Latino outreach and engagement.
SAN FRANCISCO – Today, gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer announced the addition of Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Adrian Saenz, and Colin Rogero as advisors to his campaign. The team of senior Latino strategists will advise the campaign on political, paid media and communications strategy focused on Latino voters.
These new advisors will join Nathaly A. Maurice, who was named Senior Advisor for Latino Outreach & Communications for Steyer’s campaign. Most recently, she served as an advisor to Kamala Harris and was Director of Partnerships in the Biden White House. She has been an advisor to Tom Steyer for over a decade, having served as Executive Director of Need to Impeach.
“I am honored to have Nathaly Maurice, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Adrian Saenz, and Colin Rogero on the team, ensuring we center the voices and experience of Latino communities in building a stronger California,” Steyer said. “The state’s affordability issues are plaguing every community, especially Latino families who are bearing the brunt of failed policies. This state has been built by hard-working people from every level of society, and they should be benefiting from what they’ve created. As governor, I will work to make sure that happens.”
In addition to these advisors, the campaign also announced Ariana Andrade, previously at the Latino Community Foundation, as Director of Surrogate Communications, and Keylin Rivera, who previously served as a senior advisor at the U.S. EPA under the Biden administration, as Director of Scheduling & Advance.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez is a political strategist and organizer who has dedicated her career to advancing the rights of working people, and building leadership and power with and among communities of color. Most recently, she served as Campaign Manager for Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden’s presidential campaigns, building a staff of over 3,000 people across 7 core battleground states. She previously served as Senior Advisor to President Biden and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the Biden-Harris White House.
Adrian Saenz is a veteran of five presidential campaigns and the former DCCC National Field Director and Latino Vote Director. An alum of both the Obama and Biden White House teams, he served as a senior advisor for Latino voter engagement in the 2008, 2020 and 2024 presidential campaigns, has led Latino voter focused campaign efforts for the Latino Victory Project and BOLD PAC, and has consulted for private sector and non-profit clients ranging from Mi Familia Vota to the Latino Media Network and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
Colin Rogero is a Latino filmmaker and media consultant. Regarded as one of the
most creative Latinos in politics, his distinctive visual style and emotionally resonant ads have helped candidates win at every level – from city council to the White House. Rogero helped elect Ruben Gallego to the U.S. Senate, the first Latino Senator from Arizona, and Gabe Vasquez to the U.S. Congress in one of only two Republican-held seats Democrats flipped in 2022.
