SAN FRANCISCO — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer today announced the endorsement of Assemblymember Mia Bonta, the founding Chair of the California Children’s Caucus and a fierce advocate for health care and education.
“I'm proud to endorse Tom Steyer to be California's next governor,” Bonta said. “I've spent my career advocating for children and working families, and his plan to make billionaires and corporations pay their fair share will fund California's schools and safety-net programs that have been gutted by the federal administration. We need California to not only stand up to Trump, but deliver for everyday Californians, make life more affordable, and build a state where everyone can succeed. Tom has proven he is the leader for this challenge.”
“I’m honored to earn Assemblymember Mia Bonta’s endorsement,” Steyer said. “Mia has spent her career defending Californians because she believes the California Dream means putting working people first. She knows too many families are struggling to afford basic necessities, including health care and education, and that’s why we must fight for single-payer health care and make California a top 10 state for public education. I look forward to working with Assemblymember Bonta to deliver results for all Californians.”
Bonta joins the long list of endorsers Steyer has earned since the launch of his campaign, which includes the United Domestic Workers, California School Employees Association, the 100,000-member-strong California Nurses Association, as well as Congressman Ro Khanna, Senator Henry Stern, Assemblymembers Chris Ward, Alex Lee, Isaac Bryan, Gregg Hart, Ash Kalra, and Rick Chavez Zbur.
