Over the weekend, the Progressive Candidate for Governor Secured Eight Additional Endorsements for his Gubernatorial Campaign
SAN FRANCISCO – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate and climate advocate Tom Steyer received the endorsements of prominent state leaders: Assemblymembers Steve Bennett, Tasha Boerner, Corey Jackson and Nick Schultz. These endorsements come on the heels of new endorsements from Congressman Jared Huffman, State Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, and Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva.
“Californians need a governor who knows the need to act effectively on climate change and growing income inequality for families across our state is urgent,” Assemblymember Steve Bennett said. “Tom Steyer has spent more than 15 years on the front lines of the climate fight, taking on powerful interests and delivering real results for working Californians. He understands that the same families hit hardest by rising costs, housing insecurity, and economic inequality are also on the front lines of the climate crisis. He's committed to lowering costs, expanding opportunity, and ensuring no one is left behind. I believe he's the candidate in this race with the experience and track record to best meet this moment and get the job done.”
“Californians are fed up with being ripped off by powerful utility companies, and I have made it my mission to hold them accountable,” Assemblymember Tasha Boerner said. “Tom Steyer has spent his career standing up to special interests and delivering real relief for Californians. He understands the urgency of lowering costs for working families and is committed to holding powerful corporations accountable. That is why I am proud to support Tom for Governor. We need a leader who will take on corporate greed and fight for affordability across our state.”
“Tom Steyer understands that real leadership is about expanding opportunity and delivering for communities that have too often been left behind,” Assemblymember Corey Jackson said. “From my work founding SBX Youth and Family Services to break cycles of poverty and violence, to advancing pathways into good-paying, future-focused jobs in regions of Riverside County, I’ve fought to ensure every family has a fair shot. Tom shares that commitment to building an economy rooted in dignity for working people. At a moment when too many Californians are facing deep economic uncertainty and the threat of losing basic support like food assistance, we need a governor who can’t be bought. Tom Steyer is that leader, and I’m proud to support him for governor.”
“Tom Steyer understands that building a more equitable California goes hand in hand with investing in our communities, our economy, and our creative industries,” Assemblymember Nick Schultz said. “As Chair of the Assembly Public Safety Committee, I’ve made it my priority to advance policies that protect all Californians while addressing systemic inequities in our justice system. Tom shares that vision and also recognizes that places like the San Fernando Valley are economic engines that support thousands of working families. His commitment to sustainability, economic opportunity, and community safety is exactly the kind of leadership California needs right now.”
Assemblymember Steve Bennett, Assemblymember Tasha Boerner, Assemblymember Corey Jackson, and Assemblymember Nick Schultz join a long list of elected officials, grassroots organizers, and unions who stand with Steyer. See the full list of endorsers here.
