Representative Ro Khanna Endorses Tom Steyer for Governor

Khanna: “We need a bold progressive agenda in California.”

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -  Today, Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17) announced his support for Tom Steyer’s campaign for governor of California.  In a video message, Khanna referenced Steyer’s pledge to bring down costs for Californians and to close tax loopholes that  corporations and the wealthiest use to avoid paying their fair share.  

“I’m proud to endorse Tom Steyer for Governor. Tom is for taxing billionaires like himself. He’s for getting all corporate money out of Sacramento. And he’s for passing single payer. We should have passed CalCare 8 years ago, that’s a cause I care deeply about.  Tom has also been a bold leader on climate. We need a bold progressive agenda in California. That’s why I’m supporting Tom Steyer for governor.” 

For the last fifteen years, Steyer has funded ballot propositions that have successfully closed corporate tax loopholes and taken on Big Oil and Big Tobacco in order to increase funding for California’s schools and healthcare system.  Now, he’s running for governor to take on the affordability crisis, pledging to build 1 million new homes and reduce electricity prices by 25 percent.  

“I’m extremely proud to have Representative Khanna’s endorsement,” said Steyer in a statement. “Ro has been a powerful ally in the fight against Trump, and he has never been afraid to speak out against special interests in Sacramento, either.
