NEW VIDEO: Steyer Highlights Special Interests Buying Becerra and Keeping Costs High
“They know that if we win, the predatory corporations that are ripping you off will have to deal with me.”
In the time between when the video was recorded and posted, Meta dropped another $245,000 to back the candidate who will give them a free pass
CALIFORNIA — Tom Steyer today sounded the alarm with a message to voters about the corporate special interests coming out of the woodwork to support Becerra – spending millions on Becerra, who will give them a free pass to keep costs high for California families.
“These guys are ripping you off, and they're spending to oppose me and boost Xavier Becerra, because they know I will change things. Without your vote, they win,” said Tom Steyer in a new video. “Let's take them on and make California more affordable.”
Steyer calls out the unprecedented $53 million from the special interests looking for a seat at the table: a who’s-who of corporate villains including Chevron, PG&E, DaVita, McDonald’s and Meta, who today doubled down on their bid on Xavier Becerra with a new $245,000 check, bringing their new total to $1.2 million.

(This new Meta new money hit the pro-Becerra bank account in just the few short hours between when the video was shot and when it was posted, so we went ahead and fixed it here):
It begs the questions: what new special interest checks with the pro-Becerra backers cash tomorrow?
Hard to say, but one thing’s for sure: Steyer is the only candidate who will take them on and lower costs for working Californians.
TRANSCRIPT
We broke a record.
Corporations and special interests have spent $53 million against me, the most ever in a California governor's race.
It's because they're scared.
They know that if we win, the predatory corporations that are ripping you off will have to deal with heat.
Here are some of the characters that are spending against me:
PG&E: $13.5 million
California Association of Realtors: $10 million
Meta: $950,000
Chevron:$500,000
Uber: $1 million dollars
McDonald's: $500,000
AirBnB: A million dollars
Davita $500,000 dollars
These guys are ripping you off, and they're spending to oppose me and boost Xavier Becerra, because they know I will change things.
Without your vote. They win.
Let's take them on and make California more affordable.
Please make sure you vote by June 2.
