NEW AD: “If Billionaires Don’t Like Me, I Don’t Care”
SAN FRANCISCO — Today, ahead of the first televised debate among gubernatorial candidates, Tom Steyer released an ad centered on ensuring billionaires pay their fair share in California.

Below is the transcript of “Fair Share.”
Town Hall Attendee: Given that you’re a billionaire, would you support higher taxes on billionaires?
Tom Steyer: I want you to think of me as the billionaire who’s going to raise money from billionaires.
We can’t solve the issues without billionaires paying more.
If we’re going to have a California Dream, things need to change.
We’re going to have to go to the billionaires in this state.
If they don’t like me, I don’t care.
I’m Tom Steyer. I’m running for Governor because we have to make California more affordable.
“While the big corporations and tech billionaires that don’t want to pay their taxes are lining up behind Mayor Mahan, Tom Steyer has always stood up to powerful, wealthy special interests,” Steyer for Governor spokesperson Kevin Liao said. “As governor, he’ll make billionaires and corporations pay their fair share so California works for everyone, not just CEOs in Silicon Valley.”
In an op-ed titled “It’s Time for Corporations and Billionaires Like Me to Pay More Taxes,” Steyer discussed how he would address economic inequalities in the state and raise revenue for education, housing, health care, and other key programs Californians rely on.
