"The Urgency of This Crisis Demands Him"
OAKLAND, CA — California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) has endorsed Tom Steyer for California Governor, citing his decades-long commitment to environmental activism. With over 160,000 members, EnviroVoters has long been a driving force in the fight to defend and protect California's land, air, water, and communities by electing environmental champions, advancing critical legislation, and holding policymakers accountable on climate.
“Tom Steyer has dedicated his life to the fight for climate justice and corporate accountability. He’s championed landmark climate policies federally and here in California, including going head to head, and dollar for dollar, with Big Oil and Big Tobacco to defend some of those same policies that keep communities healthy, safe, and affordable,” Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters said. “He has led the philanthropic community on investing in climate and conservation solutions and prioritizing true economic change through sustainability and resiliency. He hasn’t just talked about change, he’s delivered it. Steyer understands the policy, politics, and urgency of the moment, and he has a clear vision for action.”
"EnviroVoters has been a powerhouse in the fight for climate and environmental justice, and I am honored to receive their endorsement," Steyer said. "Their work building political will, advancing climate solutions, and pushing back against harmful federal policy is essential to California's climate future and a national model of resistance. Their fight for climate justice is a blueprint for us all — one that builds resilient, healthy, thriving communities and a just, sustainable democracy. I look forward to continuing this fight together. "
California Environmental Voters is California’s largest environmental voting bloc and an advocate for political mobilization since 1972. They join the long list of Steyer’s endorsers, including: California Federation of Labor, AFSCME 3299, California Federation of Teachers, United Domestic Workers, California School Employees Association, the California Nurses Association, as well as Congressman Ro Khanna, Senator Henry Stern, Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni Atkins, and Assemblymembers Mia Bonta, Isaac Bryan, Gregg Hart, Ash Kalra, Alex Lee, Chris Ward, and Rick Chavez Zbur.
