BREAKING: Special Interests Pour $1.25 Million More Into Last-Minute Ads Attacking Steyer – Because They're Running Scared
Special interest dollars keep flooding in to prop up Becerra, who corporations know will do their bidding
CALIFORNIA – Scared money moves fast. With hours left in the election, special interests have dumped another $1.25 million in last-minute digital ads attacking Tom Steyer, bringing the total corporate pile-on to $55.4 million.
Xavier Becerra has already sold out to corporations on single-payer, oil drilling, EVs, and the billionaire tax. So his corporate allies are doing everything they can to prop up Becerra, their champion who they’re betting on to do their bidding.
Behind the last minute money dump is the California Chamber of Commerce's JobsPAC – funded by Meta, Chevron, PG&E, Edison, Uber, Sergey Brin, and a roster of corporate giants with everything to lose. Their backers oppose single-payer healthcare, rent control, minimum wage increases, making polluters pay, and reining in utility monopolies.
Steyer is a threat to every single one of their priorities.
"Special interests don't pour millions into a race the night before an election unless they're running scared," said Steyer for Governor spokesperson Danni Wang. "Becerra’s corporate backers have already invested a lot into Becerra, and he’s shown them he’ll do they’re bidding, flip-flopping on everything from single-payer to the environment. Powerful interests know Tom will take them on – and that he cannot be bought.”
Election Day is tomorrow.
