Endorsements underscore Steyer’s growing support among California legislative leaders focused on cost of living, workers’ rights, and progressive economic policy.
SAN FRANCISCO – Announced earlier this week, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer received the endorsements of the Assistant Majority Leader for Policy and Research, Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins; the Chair of the Los Angeles County Legislative Delegation, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor; and the Chair of the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee and Vice Chair of the California Legislative Latino Caucus, Assemblymember Liz Ortega.
“Strong, thriving communities are built when we listen to constituents and invest in working families,” said Assemblymember LaShae Sharp-Collins. “These values guide my work in the Legislature, and they are the same values I see in Tom Steyer. He understands the urgency of addressing the cost of living, elevating community voices, and protecting California’s future. I’m proud to support his campaign for Governor so we can build a state that works for everyone.”
“I’m proud to support Tom Steyer for Governor because he understands that California’s strength comes from its workers and the communities they power,” said Assemblymember Liz Ortega. As someone who has spent my life fighting for good jobs, health care access, and safe working conditions, I know Tom shares a deep commitment to economic justice and opportunity for all Californians. Together, we can build a future where every hardworking family has a real chance at a good life.”
“I have dedicated my career to protecting California workers and families from policies and special interests that seek to do them harm,” said Assemblymember Tina McKinnor. “At a moment when our communities are facing compounding state and federal crises, Californians need a real progressive leader like Tom Steyer—someone who is not beholden to corporations and will always put the needs of our people first. This is a moment for bold leadership and that is why I am proud to endorse Tom Steyer.”
“Assemblymembers Sharp-Collins, McKinnor, and Ortega are fierce advocates for millions of hardworking Californians, and I’m grateful for their endorsements,” Steyer said. “LaShae Sharp-Collins has worked tirelessly to uplift and protect her most marginalized constituents, Tina McKinnor has been a champion for progressive issues, and Liz Ortega has consistently taken big business to task. All have served as powerful voices for working people in their districts and far beyond them, and I’m inspired by the many victories they’ve won in Sacramento. I look forward to working with them to continue to deliver for Californians.”
Assemblymembers LaShae Sharp-Collins, Tina McKinnor, and Liz Ortega join a long list of elected officials, grassroots organizers, and unions who stand with Steyer. In the last two weeks, Steyer has doubled his legislative support, earning more than 10 new endorsements. See the full list of endorsers here.
