The organization is a leading voice for expanding housing supply in California.
SAN FRANCISCO – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate and climate advocate Tom Steyer received the endorsement of the Abundance Network. The organization, which has chapters in San Francisco, Santa Monica, and East Bay/Oakland, empowers a new generation of civic and local leaders to tackle issues such as housing, transportation, education, and public spaces.
“Tom has distinguished himself in this race with his ambitious yet practical plan to reform California’s tax policy to incentivize building more housing,” Misha Chellam, President of Abundance Network said. “Combined with his support for boosting transit-oriented development and modernizing the environmental review process, we believe Tom is the best candidate to advance abundance in California.”
“Housing costs are unacceptably high for working Californians,” Steyer said. “This crisis demands urgent action, and I’m honored to earn the endorsement of Abundance Network because we share a belief that California can and should build enough housing for working people to thrive. Together, we can achieve my plan to build 1 million homes in four years to expand opportunity, strengthen our communities, and make the California Dream attainable for working families.”
Steyer has described the housing crisis as a significant part of California’s affordability crisis. He is running on a comprehensive, ambitious plan to build 1 million homes in four years to lower costs for working families and restore the “California Dream.” Abundance Network joins housing advocates YIMBY Action and Abundant Housing LA in endorsing Steyer and his housing plan.
